Thing of the Week - Where have I gone?

As part of the launch of 50 Things in Southwark, we are focusing on 1 of the 50 activities in this amazing app. Next is ‘Where have I gone?’

Hide and seek, peek-a-boo and other hiding games are great fun, and reaffirm attachments between you and your child. It’s a great way to remind your child that even when they can’t see you, you’re still there.

The concept of hiding is different for each age group. Some younger children don’t understand that you can see them if they can’t see you. Just play a long even if you can see their toes peeping under the curtains!

How does this benefit children? It’s a fun game that reaffirms attachment and bonds. It’s an opportunity to learn about eye contact and facial expressions and searching for someone in hide and seek can start to encourage problem solving skills.

For more information on this activity including how to do it, the benefits, top tips and resources, download the free 50 Things app from Google Play or the Apple Store.
