Painting with nature

Painting is a creative activity that enables your child to express themselves, to develop their hand-eye coordination and improve their self-confidence. It also provides a valuable sensory experience, giving your child the opportunity to explore and make sense of the wonderful world around them.

Getting started

  1. Find a canvas, this could be something as simple as a piece of cardboard.

  2. Challenge your child to find objects that they can paint with. Remember, painting doesn’t always have to involve a paint brush. Find objects around the house or if you’re outside, use leaves, sticks, flowers or stones. Hands are also good for painting!

  3. Leave the paint out for your child to use as they wish or pour some paint from the top of your canvas and watch as it slides down.

  4. Let your child create their masterpiece!
